From our first date, it was evident that this guy loved Venice. The passion and excitement in his voice whenever a Venice story came up was intoxicating. I just had to go there some day. And I had to go there with him.
Our journey started at a friend’s pumpkin carving/painting party one October. I was carving and painting the heck out of my pumpkins and Matt just stared at his for an hour or so. After a challenge about how I didn't think he was all that creative and artistic, he set out on a mission to paint the most perfect Venice pumpkin that ever existed.
That following Monday, he sent me flight info for a trip to Venice over my spring break week (I am a teacher). The prices were too good to be true. His next text read "should we do it?"
The next five months were spent planning where we were going to stay, what we wanted to see and how we were going to travel once in Italy. I wanted to see Rome while we were there so that added even more planning to the mix.
